So this ugly brown field sat fallow through the entire condo boom, and now there’s suddenly a machine on site 🤷‍♂️

That's what the NIMBYs probably wanted. Whoa, your neighbourhood is so amazing with its vacant lots and crumbling main street! Keep fighting those condos and bike lanes to guarantee improvement.

That rig is for borehole testing, not shoring. That would likely be in pursuit of updated plans, however because Royal York doesn't have PMTSA permissions (lol), I'm not sure how much more the proponent can expect to entitle. Savoy is going for 29 storeys down the street but they'll only get that at OLT and nothing is yet approved.
yess this is what i figured is that they are going to be re-submitting for a taller building. reason why is that there's street marking to Elsfield (neighboring street) which tells me about the condo casting shadows. they also took down their website and advertising for the "windsor condo" that was supposed to be 7 stories. I hope this isn't going to be a goliath though. I just want more commercial store fronts along this stretch of bloor!

So I just spoke with the contractor that was on site. He indicated it’s on the last stage and is approved for a 29 story building and they’re doing studies for excavation to the bed rock for the parking! And the bungalow next door owned by the builder will become a 4 story townhouse.

He also indicated that the other building at 2926 bloor st west is been approved for a 28 story building.

This is a massive change from the initial proposal. I don’t understand how these are getting approved and passed?
