...it's fairly close to the rendering they have now on it though. And for what that's worth.

Flurry of activity here at West House in the push for occupancy. The newly installed terrace sod had to be removed so they could offload what I assume is drywall and other construction waste in those enormous white bags.

Lots of finishing touches happening all over the building exterior.

At night time you can see that the units are mostly complete, some exterior lighting has been turned on and makes the building look slightly less cheap, and the walls inside one of the podium floors have been painted red (Equinox?).

There are plenty of interesting details here, but this building feels like it misses the mark architecturally. The proportions are heavy and boring. The lack of contextualism with the delightful Second Empire block next door is unfortunate.

Yes…. …. … it is a behemoth, almost a whole city block. I don’t want to hear any discussion about it to be honest.

It is what it is, the city allowed this to be built.

K thanks.

If you don't want to hear any discussion about it, don't open the thread.

Here's another thought. One advantage to these sorts of wide high-rise buildings is supposed to be that units can be comfortably wider. But in looking at the privacy screens on the balconies, they seem to have gone with "bowling alley" shaped units anyway.

I think it looks great...

...I'm sure there are quibbling details that could be improved upon. And it may straddle just north of mundane here. But I still like it...so thumbs mostly up for me.

May 5 - and the Bathurst Street sidewalk in front of Toronto West House has reopened.

Good to see it's finally reopened.

But just as a little aside, it seethes me to no end that the city chooses grey pavers as a standard. It's just another reason the streetscape in Toronto is mindnumbingly sterile, dull and soulless.

Is it too much to ask for a warmer colour like what we used to do in the city (pre-amalgamation):

It's warm and beautiful but probably more expensive to maintain
