Night's mistake is that they missed the clearly obvious yellow black/red white tape put down on the tiles.
Is that before or after the incident took place? Or did it happen in another part of the Great Hall that the officials missed?

...since none of us were there, I am going to presume from the claim in good faith that it wasn't clearly marked off at the time of the fall.

Based on the concept art released from the last tender, the chandeliers & cove lighting should look something like this.

I’m not the best at editing real photos so bear with me.

Yes, there are a few other things -

Looking at @Willybru21’s photo, one can’t help but notice the hoardings on the left. Have you asked about the status of that? Broken floor tiles and lighting aside, that hoarding is the most garish of all. It’s been there so long it has probably joined the station itself in heritage status.

That hoarding isn’t going to go anywhere until the unit is leased by a restaurant. I believe it’s currently a site office for one of the projects at Union, someone can correct me if I’m wrong

Not joking when I say this, I bet it's been there no less then 20 years at this point. It's literally unbelievable. My two biggest pet peeves about the station is the drywall and the fact the so many of the lights have been out on the info boards for god knows how long. Truly embarrassing. I've posted this 3 or 4 times in this thread.

I have not asked, have you? That said, the hoarding is there because the plan to put a restaurant there has stalled and that area is actually NOT under the City's direct control as this is, AFIK, part of the areas of the Station rented to Osmington. Osmington seem to be doing quite well renting out the areas below the Great Hall and to east of t so I assume will soon work harder or more successfully to rent out this prime space.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the steakhouse in the east wing.

It is prime real estate but I wonder if there is an oversaturation of food outlets now at Union.

What would be better honestly, is if Travel Ontario moved into the Great Hall but alas that's a dream.

Does anyone have a layout of that space? It looks so narrow so I’m not sure what uses will work there. Fine dining might not be best suited for this space. It overlooks a place where you have people sleeping on benches, others chattering loudly into their phones — some on speakerphone that echoes annoyingly into the hall. Not very pleasant to sit and enjoy a $200 dinner, it makes sense that Blue Bovine is in a more remote part of the station and enclosed.

A more casual cafe or bakery with that second floor balcony for seating would be nice. I would hate to see it become another chain but a large Starbucks would be perfectly suited for this and would do really well. I’d prefer a home grown bakery/cafe like SUD Forno.

A cafe/wine bar wouldn't be a bad idea at all.

Something like this I think is a good idea. The thing I don't understand, is even if the space is vacant, I would rather see the dry wall gone and just have whatever is behind there opened up. I mean unless there was construction going on, why have we had dry wall there for 15/20 years??

I was in this space around 2010 as part of the many TRHA Doors Open events there.

At the time it was very narrow with offices in behind. The facade that formed part of Hertz, Grey Line Tours, etc was placed on top of the heritage ticket booths.

There was a narrow corridor behind the booths with small rooms alongside the windows. Honestly, I don't see how they could fit a functioning restaurant in there. A cafe would fit but nothing requiring a full kitchen or back of house.
