I thought I read somewhere they were supposed to start construction of the first towers at the end of last summer, but so far there is no activity on site.
That was true but not sure what happened, may have been delayed due to the sewage issue. However, I was able to confirm with Center Court that construction is expected to happen late spring or early summer with occupancy of tower 1 & 2 set for 2028.

Went to The Shops of PCC today. The Bay was obviously depressing looking given it just has days left (literally), but I gotta say, the mall definitely seems to be up and coming. I didn’t know those seats in the food court were new as @FutureDurham presented.

Definitely happy to see the “city-fication” of Pickering. Overall, I am happy impressed with many developments in Pickering.

I’m not a fan of suburbia and despise car dependent places, but developments like these are far better than what we built between the 60s/90s.

Anyways, I also went to the PCC showroom and captured these pictures, and also got a free booklet:

I will say, I understand Pickering is very car centric, but, you can’t tell me a great urban environment has this much parking surrounding a city centre. Granted, I question how much authority the City had here given this was on mall property, and again, this area is car dependent in its current state.

I take that section where The Esplanade North dips south, west of Glenanna Road, is suppose to be like a Dutch style wonerf?

Virtually looking north-east. I believe this is Valley Farm Road. You can see the future Performing Arts Centre and the community centre. Though the two residential towers on top of the community centre shown in the site plan are omitted, presumably as that is part of phase 2. .

The future site of the hotel and 4 mixed-used residential buildings right now.

So with The Bay closed, it does look like you have to detour to the old Sears wing when accessing transit. Which kinda sucks.
Yea it makes sense, if the area was more populated and connected, they would’ve likely did something similar to the Eaton Centre when Nordstrom initially closed and they made a pathway through the store, but since Hudson’s Bay doesn’t have a “real” connection they’re not going to do that.

There's a mall entrance on the west side with a covered walkway all the way to the pedestrian bridge. Is that closed too?
