A Wellness Company With False Claims, Global Aims and a Toronto Island

A Times investigation shows Therme, a European firm, exaggerated its track record in securing a deal with Ontario, and government auditors found that the process had been unfair and opaque.

Apparently, this is one of the few times Doug Ford supports socialism, but only for struggling companies he likes in this case.

I think it looks really nice considering all the backlash. The Marina is beautiful with indigenous cultural pavilions, steps & nice seating areas. Brigantine Cove is appealing & serene. The main beach area is fine, nothing special. The stone/rock’s water’s edge area is cool & compliments the wide wooden boardwalk thru area. I hope there’s more stone, off white, beige pavement, pavers thru area than grey tones. Grey will completely dull the space. The therme buildings are still underwhelming from afar. Maybe nicer close up. Less glass tho. I’m more disappointed in Live Nation amphitheatre design, looks really small & unimpressive to me. I was hoping for more flair there like the new PNE amphitheater in Vancouver.
The green Treehouse play area looks fantastic.
And the parking garage is … huge. Not necessarily ugly but massive. But overall the space is a great improvement from previous designs.

If Doug Ford’s revenue forecast is right, it’s over $80. But you’ll be able to take the subway, not just the streetcar!

Would have been nice if the front page article had any links to the plans but oh well.
Here you go: Final designs for Ontario Place

I’m disappointed to see the parking structure built this tall and this close to the water, such wasted sightlines. All the renders conveniently exclude the parking structure, they know it’s going to look terrible. We all know it.

Example - this is the mainland beach which will feature none of these views:

The poors hate the streetcar too.
Ahem, this particular poor person quite likes the streetcars. Allows for a street level view while providing a ride as smooth as the subway. Infinitely preferable to buses where one's tailbone is subject to abusive vertical forces from rough asphalt and potholes while simultaneously one's entire body is subject to abusive horizontal forces by aggressive accelerating & breaking drivers.😒

Not gonna lie, I am transit geeky & cash-strapped enough that I have taken a streetcar from one end to the other just to feel like I was on a trip, since it's about the only one I can readily afford. No "Sunday drives" for me as a car is way out of budget.

You've already revealed your condescending attitude towards homeless people on other threads, now you wanna go after the working poor too?

Apologies to everyone else for going off topic, this "off hand remark" just irked me too much to say nothing, but I won't continue this segue.

I am not defending the parking garage but it appears to have level floors so can be converted to other uses.
The hotel for SUVs should be "pink". Before the people are charged a dollar and a half (before being adjusted for inflation) to see the trees in the tree museum.

I have a car, but still ride the streetcars with my son for fun.
