I'm planning on moving back to St. Lawrence in 2037. I'm just hoping it'll be open by then! We could start an over/under...
Recall that on Eglinton and TYSSE they didn't start the stations until after the tunnelling was completed (for Eglinton I think it was years after before they even tendered the stations). If the Eglinton Line is any indication of the time from the completion of tunnelling to the opening of the line... we're in for a long ten years.
Agreed they are problematic. However, Metrolinx is political tool and not at all arms length as they were allegedly supposed to be.Not to worry everyone Metrolinx will create 1000 more “coming soon” video productions and models while delivering nothing of substance AND costing the most in the world per kilometre. This is bad beyond measure. Metorlinx needs to be collapsed. If not - Generations of taxpayers and transit takers will continue to be fleeced in perpetuity.![]()
And if the issue is financial, well there is an annual car registration fee that can be reinstated amongst other tools that have been removed/devalued by his government
Imagine a Gov who gives away $2-3$BN in revenue when NOBODY complained about the revenue grab. Double ugh.I miss the license plate stickers with the dates on them. Putting them on felt special. Now there's no joy in car registration anymore.

Ah, but you can't criticize them, because then who else will deliver projects years late and overbudget? Not to worry everyone Metrolinx will create 1000 more “coming soon” video productions and models while delivering nothing of substance AND costing the most in the world per kilometre. I suppose they can get away with it, as long as they do actually complete a line, and don't just quit and give up. I wonder what the backlash would be, if that were to happen. Though it was only a tiny piece of Toronto history, everyone still remembers Mike Harris' order to "fill in the hole" (the first attempt at an Eglinton line). They got away with it, only because there wasn't much of a hole yet, to fill in.Ah, but you can't criticize them, because then who else will deliver projects years late and overbudget?

Ok......with all of the great progress shots, from multiple contributors, but special shout out to @kotsy ......it may seem hard to believe.................
But I have now had some information corroborated by multiple sources.
It appears the O/L will be the latest Mx project to miss its opening date.
The number that I was given, which I don't feel it appropriate to share at this time, is astoundingly bad. While I couldn't verify the precise number, multiple sources agreed Mx will miss its targeted opening of Fall 2031.
Also agreed, was that it won't be particularly close.
Whereas the date in question remains, literally, six years away, i assume Mx has some room to expedite things should the political impetus and budget for that be made to occur.
But in general, delays compound overtime, and rarely end up being caught up on.
File under, concern warranted.
Were your contacts able to explain the alleged delay?
With much of the station excavation complete on the southern section (and the Pape North section's excavation beginning this month) and tunnelling set to begin later this year, it seems hard to understand what remains that would take more than six years from this point. Unless ML is planning to hold off from certain contract executions due to lack of funding?
Just thinking of the billions this govt wastes and tax revenue it forgos every year that could litrally be used to improve and find entire transit lines every couple years.
Beer store and LCBO shannanigans- 500 mm
License shenanigans 1billion annually since 2022 = 3 billion
200 dollar election bribe - 3 billion
Total tax dollars thrown to the flames 6.5 billion.
OMG how could I even forget.Don't omit:
The permanent gas tax reduction
And
The removing of road tolls from 407 East and the 412
Also dont forget the scrapping of the scrapping of the license renewal stickers, the unnecessary 2025 election, the license plate fiasco, etc.. Really the list goes on and on with how Doug has been pissing away government revenue sources while pouring away money on foolish spending sprees for no reason.OMG how could I even forget.
Gas "tax cut" financed by debt...good God.. 1.3 billion ANNUALLY since 2022 = 3.9 billion
Ontario's electricity rate reduction programs is approximately $5.8 Billion annually since 2023 (saving you 26 dollars per month) = 11.6 billion
Projected loss of toll road revenue = 94 million
Add the above to my previous rough estimate of 6.4 billion
You get an eye watering, puke inducing, sickening, legal scam of aprox. 21.9 billion dollars, that ontario has burned in the gates of hell otherwise known as "fiscal prudence", since aprox. 2021/2022..
Just imagine the kinds of infrastructure projects this province could fund with just a tiny bit more sense ... even if they all ended up the disgraces that is eglinton...at least yo get something that lasts 60 + years
And now my day is absolutly ruined..
