What line or extension or other transit project within the city of Toronto has been on time?
My source wasn't privy to all the various details, but was aware of one project component causing some apprehension.
In due course, I'll put more info in the public domain, or point the media in the right direction. But in protecting my sources, I think its something I can't reveal right now.
I will say, since I've put this out, I have more people whispering at me; and no one is correcting my understanding thus far.
Well since they didn't have all the details, I guess all we can hope for is that this is just an unsubstantiated rumour
Well since they didn't have all the details, I guess all we can hope for is that this is just an unsubstantiated rumour like the cracked concrete slab on Line 5.
On the other hand, Line 5 is so severely delayed that it doesn't really matter what the cause is anymore; it might as well be a cracked concrete slab with how long it's taking.
I'm guessing something substantiated will come out soon, but until then I will remain optimistic that this line opens early, like the Canada Line did (that's the only RT project in recent Canadian history that I know opened early).
Add in some financial compensation for leads and I am sure the floodgates will open lolHi everyone. My name is Andy Takagi, I'm the Toronto Star's transportation reporter.
I'm looking into some of the rumours that the Ontario Line will miss its expected opening date of 2031. If you or someone you know has information about the delays and would be willing to provide documents or comments, that would help tremendously with my reporting.
I would need to be able to verify your identity if we were to speak, but because this is a sensitive topic, I'm able to provide confidentiality to protect your identify if you feel revealing any information would put your job at risk. I do not publish materials or quotes anonymously without a mutual understanding of how you would be represented in the paper. I'm happy to chat further over email or through DMs about what that process would look like.
If you have any other information about Metrolinx, Toronto transit and projects that you have concerns about, I'm always open to chat. You can reach me at my email atakagi@thestar.ca or via DMs on UrbanToronto, which I check periodically. You can also find my contact info on my Star author page: https://www.thestar.com/users/profile/andy-takagi/
