I feel like Metrolinx is pinning all its hopes on the Ontario Line to save its reputation….which right now is not just in the gutter, it’s doing somersaults on the way to hell.

Huh? What's gone wrong with the Ontario Line?

Maybe I haven't been following along closely enough, but I thought it was on track and progressing properly.

Specifics?

Queen-riverside bridge demolition, for one

Nothing's gone wrong with the Ontario Line yet -- setting aside demolition of Ontario Place, shuttering of the Ontario Science Centre, clearcutting of Osgoode Hall, bad transfer design at Osgoode, incompatible vehicle technology, an entirely unnecessary surface alignment in Riverdale, and keeping the diversion to West Harbour -- but then I remember how optimistic I felt a decade ago when the Eglinton Crosstown boring machines finished tunneling.

My desires for the Ontario Line aren't necessarily the same as the desires of those who control the pursestrings. I worry that the paymasters think of the Ontario Line as welfare for the construction industry and will lose interest once there is no more concrete to be poured. We'll see

There’s nothing surprising about a company highlighting projects making good progress and burying ones that are stalled.

This is misleading, it was rescheduled once and it’s being demolished this weekend. Nothing has gone wrong.

It almost seems like they want to get it done on time so they can turn around and say.:

Why are you presenting that as a bad thing, ppl & companies should learn from their mistakes & put their best foot forward in the future.

Hahaha, you're blaming the demolition of Ontario Place and the closing of The Ontario Science Centre on Metrolinx???

I hate them as much as the next guy, but that's a bit rich.

There are comments that it is a bit behind schedule.... but that's just the nature of construction, nothing has been reported as a serious showstopper. It's still very early - the TBM hasn't even spun a rotation yet. So far it is doing fine.

I think the Simpsons quote you’re looking for regarding Metrolinx and the Ontario Line is: Get ready everybody, he’s about to do something stupid.

I hope it all goes smoothly, but I wouldn’t be surprised if a big f*ckup happens down the road either.

As i've noted in this thread before, there's one firm involved in the construction here who will very likely screw this project up and cause delays.

I've already beaten their name into a bush but their name starts with an A, and ends with an A.

Recent breakthrough at King and Bathurst

King-Bathurst station is taking shape!

The future King-Bathurst station is the first Ontario Line station to break through the wall between the above-ground entrance area and the underground cavern! This breakthrough is one of the first steps to creating an underground station.

To make it happen, the team used a specially designed pentagonal concrete structure called 'pentabeam' to safely support the ground. This allowed the roadheader to break through the wall safely and with absolute accuracy.

Up next? The station is getting ready to welcome two tunnel boring machines in 2026!

I'm a bit confused as I thought they were using the excavations of the entrances to create the underground cavern (as this isn't Star Trek and you can't teleport underground) therefore at least one "entrance" would be connected to the cavern.

Does this just mean that the holes on the north and south side of Bathurst are connected connected through the cavern now?

Looks like they are working through the weekend on the stations. I briefly joked with one of the workers about it.

They don't really give you much to look at, at street level, do they?

There was nothing really to see yet at Eastern Transit Hub, Corktown, or Moss Park. Queen, Osgoode,, Queen/Spadina, and King/Bathurst have all structures built up around them. I couldn't really get close to Exhibition Station to get a closer look today.

And one of the benefits walking around to all these stations to take pictures.
