Do they need to complete excavation to launch the first TBM? Or just the second.

(the first I would guess)
I would assume yes too but that's just a guess.

I thought they were launching TBM from the east end near corktown?
I thought I saw something about one there too but I can't find anything after searching. Exhibition & Gerrard launches are happening for sure, though.

Speaking of, here's an update on the Exhibition portal/tbm lauch shaft from today. No excavation yet, as they're still working on the perimeter foundation.

And the lower Don Valley bridge. I believe the steel structure is the temporary bridge trestle mentioned in this Corktown presentation document from November.

As far as I understand it they launch both from Exhibition, drag them through the (partially) completed station boxes, and recover them at either Corktown station or just west of the Don

(I'm not clear on how they are constructing the last half-km or so from Corktown to the Don portal. I'd guess cut-and-cover, but I'm just guessing).

Im so confused why they’re building this area up so high when the western bridge section will need to be dug completely out and reported? Also how will the wall along Degrassi be built? If it’s T Walls like the Easter side all this gravel and earth needs to come out. Does anybody have insight into why they’d top it all up so high, and then have to take it all out?

It was suggested in the Ontario Line: Riverside-Leslieville Station thread that they may need the extra height when doing foundations for the station.

What's the temporary bridge trestle supposed to be used for?

Did a quick search and found this presentation that explains it's needed by crews for access to build the OL bridge.

I'll bring forward the bridge and portal construction schedules as well

Hitachi Rail, a Japanese company, is designing and building the trains for the Ontario Line in Toronto, Canada. Where will the trains be actually built, to avoid any tariffs?

in the last photo, is the trench going to be covered with a roof or is it going to be an open trench permanently (when it refers to tunnel?) ?

I'm assuming the trains have already been "purchased", so there shouldn't be any tariffs even if they're built in the US.

it will be covered and then GO's Stouffville line will be moved on top of it as seen in this video.

I wonder why it's going to take nearly 3 years to build the bridge though...... I mean the bridge won't be that long or tall and it seems relatively simple.

Also, why couldn't they just pre-build the bridge and drop it into place like they did with the new cherry street one?

Where is the land to assemble the bridge??? Where is the room to place cranes on both sides of the DVP and the Don to lift the bridge in place?? Got to shut down the DVP on a weekend to place the bridge.

There's plenty of room on both sides for a crane, not that they would need one. And the DVP is shut down several times a year for cleaning and races. I can't imagine it would be a big problem to shut it down for a bridge installation that was built off site. It will likely get shut down for this anyways. Remember that the Cherry Street Bridges were fully built in another city. It doesn't have to be built anywhere close to here.

Having said that, the south cherry street bridge and lake shore blvd would block the barge's way up the Don.
