Leslieville is pretty much done and dusted unless they are willing to abandon the portal on Pape. Sterilizing 2 tracks on the Lakeshore corridor is pretty dumb - but it's done now. There's too many contracts in place.
Their issues were certainly not restricted to the US - look up the V250 high speed train, or the IC4 intercity DMU, or the SL95 trams.AnsaldoBreda, geez. They’ve had a number of high profile product issues, particularly in the US. Hopefully this isn’t the case anymore with new ownership.
This picture really shows the change in bridge clearance height. It is quite a project to renew and raise this 100-year-old rail corridor through an urban area.![]()
Dundas East bridge progress.
Yeah, it makes sense. I'll have to refer to the TOD plans to recall the swathe of those plans, as the village will be fundamentally changed by that point. It's quite a swath.... but when one compares to the number of buildings demolished to build Line 2 back in the 1960's, it's not unreasonable.

This is something that annoys me about how we plan for growth in this city. The main streets that provide our neighbourhoods with any semblance of character are the areas where growth is allowed to happen - meanwhile just behind these businesses we have low density housing preserved forever.Yeah, it makes sense. That's the thing. The McDonalds with drive through stays but the new apartment building on the NW corner (which I don't think was ever occupied) will be gone. This is something that annoys me about how we plan for growth in this city. It’s so backwards. At least this pocket has a bit more density off the main street though. That said, there's also a McDonalds with surface parking across the street which will be left in place during construction.
Wait - the City is doing *20km/h* limits now? Please tell me that's a temporary thing for the construction zone. That's just patently ridiculous.I walked through the eastern route if the OL yesterday, minus the section near me in Thorncliffe, so I have very similar bridge updates as above, but later in the day I walked through my old neighbourhood of Pape Village, I didnt realize how much had been vacated here...there's so many empty storefronts, especially by Cosburn. It's rather sad, but heck, it's change.

It's probably just for under the railway - streets usually narrow and visibility gets worse under those bridgesWait - the City is doing *20km/h* limits now? Please tell me that's a temporary thing for the construction zone. That's just patently ridiculous.
