Just catching up on this thread.

Distillery intensifying and adding thousands of residents is a good comparison to Queen/Sherbourne/Richmond doing the same, where ROQ and 49 Ontario and Celeste are going to be adding a lot of people to an area that both sorely needs more bodies but also has the bones to accommodate that densification. Distillery otoh has a specific time of year where it gets overwhelmingly busy without residents living there, to the extent that it's noticable on the 504 on King and traffic in general, and to the extent where adding thousands of bodies may actually be a real issue moving forward. I'm all-for the gentrification densification of Moss Park-Corktown-South Cabbagetown but in Distillery especially things will eventually come to a head as you allude to. If only the Ontario Line was opening a few years earlier so a lot of the upcoming further strain on traffic in the area could be alleviated.
The thing about the Ontario line though- is that I want it to be helpful to traffic in the area, but when you look at traffic on Danforth, Yonge and University- it’s not like having the subway under those roads alleviates the traffic above.

Distillery District and most of Corktown and Canary District is a zoo come the Christmas Market. I'd reckon 80% of visitors drive to the event.

I don't know if the number is specifically this high but it's an indicator of the type of people the Christmas Market brings in and where they're coming from.

It doesn't help that transit to the market is pretty poor right now, especially for regional travelers. Once the OL is open I bet you will see much higher transit rates to the market.

Oh, you're telling me. I grumble every time I take a bus down Spadina and then have to wait at Queen/Spadina for an EB 501. Wish the OL was opening tomorrow because it's going to be such an improvement travelling across the city over the current situation. For me specifically, anyway, and for those who will be living at Distillery shortly. 😋

I seriously need these people to hurry tf up or stop halfway. Cuz with the weather getting better, my annoyance is growing exponentially with ANOTHER summer of public sidewalk closures in service to private profit projects- ugh.
