Was there this evening for a little while and without more pedestrian presence or additional traffic calming there's no disincentive for drivers using it to get up to Bloor. Drivers weren't speeding through but going quicker than how they should drive so close to pedestrians. Hopefully more people is all that it takes for drivers to choose an alternate route, since right now it's just Badiali (basically no line tonight!). It's a bit strange that there are a bunch of signs directing pedestrians to stay on the side even though there aren't any curbs and it feels like it's designed as pedestrian priority, but hopefully that all ends once all the fencing is down and businesses open.

Has anyone else witnessed what drivers do when they encounter this sign/intersection? It's shocking how many decide to illegally just go straight

I'm guessing some additional curbs barriers are needed here

It's brutal, as though drivers are incapable of doing a three point turn. I guess it hasn't been done already but Lennox between Markham and Palmerston will go back to two way in an effort to prevent illegal turns south down Markham and discourage cars from going north to Bloor. The hope is drivers will continue over to Palmerston and use that street to either get to Bloor or Harbord. Councillor Saxe initiated this at a committee in February and it was approved at Council in March so hopefully the change happens soon.

a couple more things from my recent stroll in the area:

I talked to someone in the book bar who said that the new developer is really moving things along and they're a lot more confident in the future of the development now (at least on the commercial side) but are skeptical on some of the new tenants moving in by fall like they've been told.

I don't understand why multiple of the planters have been put directly in front of stairs?? I'm pretty sure these stairs down are for the new independent theatre, but it's going to be hard to find if there's a big planter and (hopefully) a larger tree right in front. Seems a bit short sighted.

Yeah, having lived across Bathurst from the site for the past few years, the change has been extremely noticeable. It actually feels like a construction site again rather than someone's hobby project.
