There's a notice of termination due to unpaid rent posted at the entrances of the would-be Bestco. Not exactly a shock.
Hopefully that's just posturing to get the back rent paid. What's to do when niagara college and bestco both aren't contributing to rental revenue. And unless this bestco is somehow legally detached from the other supermarkets, it would be easy to sue the main organization right? I like going to the Peter St Bestco and was really looking forward to this one...

I mean, if they're not paying rent, and also not doing any work to fit out the space (it looks basically the same to me as it did last summer), then I don't think I'd hold out much hope...

They are not franchised. It's one [extremely slow moving] corporate entity.
