Any shot is worth more than nothing at all and hoping more members post more photos. I maybe not around in June and have other things on my plate than look and shoot the corridor at this time.

All the guideways look like this from Burnhamthrope To Sherobee as well to the north where rail is still missing. By the time they place the steel mesh, ties on top and raise them about a foot, the top of the rail maybe at the same height as the road or a few inches lower depending on the grade.

Hydro has been seen anywhere the last week and holding up a lot of work for the corridor.

The sub station going in on Dundas St E next to CIBC is way bigger than any of the current ones and maybe part of the new city substation. They were placing ducting from the site to Dundas that will connect to Hurontario that has a trench in place across two of the northbound lands that been block off over a year.

I am starting to see late 2027 to mid 2028 as an opening date without the loop. ML hasn't appeared before council as requested almost a year ago for an update on the loop and since then.

It would be nice to see a section fully complete than this mesh mash of unfinished work, but expecting some areas need rework first.

No idea what taking place at Topflight other than tracks have been removed for the diamond area.
Wow 2027/2028! Looking back this thread opened in 2006...

Wow 2027/2028! Looking back this thread opened in 2006...
Never was to open in 2006 as it was not on the radar back then. I was to have open in Sept of of 2024 back in 2020 and then pushed to Dec 2024,

I am basing the dates on what I am seeing first hand and my background given there was to be a major push at the beginning of May for trackwork that has yet to start. Seeing concrete being removed this month from tracks already pour in place doesn't bold well to other areas already in place.. Hydro crews were saying last year that their work would no be completed until 2026.. Any date I have used in the past has been a sliding one based on what taking place in the corridor. I used 2026-2027 and that was before the concrete and track issues.

As I have noted in the past, the loop will be a mess and could delay the opening, especially rebuilding the Burnhamthorpe intersection that could take up to 6 months to do it. Will it be done before or after the opening of the line is unknown by everyone except ML who is not telling the city when it will be built nor provide an update on the line itself and an opening date for it. Transit is screw already as the current buses on Hurontario are to be used elsewhere now to beef up the system since the system cannot more then 500 buses until a third garage is bult that has no funds for it nor a date it may get built considering 2011 was the first date.

Reference in today's budget:

"Hazel McCallion Line: Construction work continues along the Hazel McCallion Line, with guideway and track construction continuing to advance, including track installation and stop platforms. The platform at Port Credit Station is nearing completion and all girders have been installed on the elevated guideway spanning Highway 403. The government is moving forward with work to extend the Hazel McCallion Line into downtown Brampton and Mississauga and plans to study options to tunnel the Brampton portion of the segment. The underground extension in downtown Brampton would connect the Hazel McCallion Line to the heart of one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities, providing more people with fast, affordable and reliable transit."

I'm not sure that I've seen the long-proposed Line 4 extension from Yonge to Sheppard West shown on a general map of all the projects before.
Here's to hoping it's a sign of things to come then. Without getting too political - I'm thankful for any investment that gets shovels in the ground, but there's really no telling with this government.

If it wasn't on the radar in 2006, why is the February 2006 National Post article that is the first post in this thread references saying "This year, the city will launch a study of so-called "higher-order" transit along its Hurontario Street/Highway 10 corridor"?
You got me as I don't read the National Post and I know the study were a few years later starting with land use. Don't have a computer mind and storage bank to remember every date and detail other than my long recall mind that can be flaw at times. Short term is a different story.

During the first study process, the GM of Minneapolis-St Paul transit attended a couple meetings as well appear before council talking about the Blue Line and its expansion as well benefits it gave to the city. There was no choice then what would get built until the 2 studies were done. LRT won out at the end around 2010 or about as I cannot recall all the dates since I was involved in a number of projects them.

Was on both study team since I first recommend the LRT in a report in 2002 and 2003 as well calling for it at a council meeting in 2005 along with another 5 lines down the road. I did say there were two options for the line with one been at grade if there was room in the road for it with the other option been elevated. Looks like the elevated would have been the best option based on the current mess and opening years late. Sadly after the council meeting in 2005 at the courthouse while chambers were being expanded, all of council including the late mayor came up to me that they stated they finally understand where I was coming from as well all of staff who where sitting behind me shaking their heads in agreements unknown to me with my comments for transit in the city and saying its time to do it, but still waiting 20 years for it to happen beside the LRT.

Minneapolis Blue Line was built for 2 BBD cars and within months of opening, more cars had to be order as ridership exceeded expectation. It came apparent that the stations needed to be expanded to support 3 car trains and order more cars from Siemen as they were not happy with BBD cars.

It was also noted that the Blue Line was generating $18 to every $1 invested in it while the BRT line was only seeing $6 to $1 return making the LRT the way to go

Just out of curiousity, what other corridors were being recommended at the time? I'm guessing Dundas and Lakeshore were the obvious E-W ones, but curious about the other N-S routes.

Nice to see they've called in an actual company that specializes in railroad construction as opposed to doing it all over again just to see if it'll work.

I have never heard of them, but not my field of knowledge. They been around since 1991 out of Erin ON and do other work other than RR work.

Are they doing just Topflight or will they be doing the guideway work??

Don't know what has taken place since my last visit for the intersection nor the 407 bridge and Brampton work..

Part 2
You can see no decking has taken place for the guideway on the 407 bridge. Retraining walls are ready for forming. The road bridge should be finish by the end of the month or sooner to start the backfilling follow by roadwork.

You can see the guideway curb being rebuilt for the crossover area at Waltline Ave. Tack work still the same as it was about 9 months ago.
