Its what's underground at Don Mills that's what I'm interested in. Will there be one or two station boxes? One station box for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT and, hopefully, one station box for the Don Mills LRT/Subway/underground railway.
There will be one.

Will it actually be called Don Mills, since we already have one.

That shouldn't matter. The same station name is used multiple times in other cities within the same system and we use several bus and streetcar stops multiple times as well. It's inevitable as any system grows.

What the hell do you want? The Taj Mahal? It's a LRT station, which is effectively a gloried bus shelter. The more money they can save on this project the more money there is for other projects.

That's the plan

From the existing EA report, you are correct. They'll need a new EA, or an update to the EA, to build any kind of additional station box for any kind of future DRL/Don Mills whatever.

The existing EA for Eglinton Crosstown shows a "Don Mills LRT" on the surface. Haven't seen any update. Therefore, if the existing plans say...

Alternative names for Don Mills Station (Eglinton Crosstown) could include "Science Centre" or "Celestica" or "Real Canadian" or "Mormon Church."

Seems like this would be a good forward looking thing to get done fairly soon...similar to the lower deck on the bloor viaduct...the last thing we need to be doing is digging up this station in ten years and shutting the crosstown line down for a year or two while it's built at a huge extra cost...

Who is the councillor up there, shouldn't they be requesting a redo of the EA for this station - or at the least ensuring the box and headwalls are put in so that we don't need to dig up the whole thing.

When do they start construction on it...when would the drop dead date be for figuring out a new plan?

The roughed in box at the new bus station at young is only costing a couple million dollars, so I would imagine the same would be true for doing something like that at this location.

Miller was obsessed with using LRT for absolutely everything, so of course Don Mills was LRT.

However, Don Mills is the downtown relief line. The Don Mills LRT proposal did not go south of Danforth, the downtown relief line goes all the way downtown. Extending the line all the way downtown puts demand far far above what LRT can handle. Metrolinx claims that a DRL going up to Sheppard/Don Mills will be as busy as the Yonge line.

That's the only drawing I have seen as well.

I can't recall whether they have issued the contract for this Don Mills Station yet. If they have, they are idiots. Either they will pay a huge change order for adding the second lower platform, or they will let the Contractor finish and pay a huge amount extra to dig up the area again in 5 or 10 years.

Can we take the needless prejudicial statements out of the discussion? Particularly those not based in fact. More km of subway extensions were approved under Miller than any mayor since Crombie, and also started the studies for the DRL - which always envisioned the possibility of Don Mills being subway as far north as Eglinton.

Reviewing the Yonge-Eglinton Station designs from back in December 2013, from this link, I'm listing some interesting points of interest.
  • A 70 metre shift north to the existing subway platform
  • Excavation at Yonge-Eglinton to start early 2016
  • Station construction to start spring 2017
  • approximately 50 weekend subway closures over a period of approximately two years, starting July 2016
  • LRT and mezzanine levels (two levels) to go under subway level

And from this link, this illustration of the Yonge-Eglinton interchange.

With a possible 50 weekend subway closures at Yonge-Eglinton, does show that the powers-that-be should include a station box at Don Mills-Eglinton, even in a rough state. Use it for storage, until needed.
