Mayor Ford wants to cancel it. The issue hasn't reached Council. Hopefully Council defeats the mayor.

Other than that, no news that I know of.

I'm willing to bet that Tory's hard stance on Connects was an election tactic used to attract Ford's base. When he saw the backlash it received, he dropped it completely from his campaign.

The right thing to do would be to not make any noise about Connects and let it pass under the radar. It won't be built until near the end or after Tory's second term anyway.

Wonder if there will be a "Last Spike" ceremony who they actually do the laying of the last piece of rail?

Darn, Pierre Burton is not available to write about it.

I only would want a last spike ceremony as long as siting politicians who weren't involved in this project aren't invited to participate. The mayor of Toronto in 2020 has no business putting the last spike in, as they wouldn't have been actively involved in the project.

I passed by the Brentcliffe site today. It's hard to get a good look while driving by but they appear to have dug out quite a bit of earth in preparation for the TBMs arrival. I guess there won't be much of a "TBM launch" here since this is where the portal from underground to at grade will be.

You can also see the TBM parts near the Longos in Leaside being unwrapped and prepared to move to the launch site.

Who will make it to Yonge first? Dennis or Lea? This is the TMB race of a lifetime! Place your bets now!

TheTigerMaster will be taking a 20% cut of any bets placed + $15 placement fee per bet.
