That's a very big claim that they're making, a smooth ride? Lol yeah right. knowing the TTC and Metrolinx, we know what we're going to be in for.

If we were America, their would be lawsuits all over this claim within the first year of opening.

Guess we can expect to see ads for Line 5 in the subways soon. Look forward to checking this out on opening day once that gets announced.

Smooth, they didn't say fast. Ride on Line 6 is smooth, just awfully slow lol

The pro-subways-everywhere crowd have found their ideological scapegoat. They were frothing at the mouth this whole time, waiting for any moment to strike.

You better believe that when all the issues with Finch are fixed, they still will lambast it like it still exists on opening day.

This misses the point. Finch as an LRT is fine. General sentiment regardless of pro-LRT or pro-subway has been more supportive of Line 6 being LRT. On the other hand, Line 5 is an abomination that was borne of political clownery and rubber stamp post-hoc rationalization consultant reports. You're awfully optimistic that both Lines can be fixed. But everyone's definition of 'fixed' is different. In a best case scenario, Line 6 would reach 34-36 minute travel times for an average speed of 18 km/h. There is no guarantee that this would happen, as it would require more than just stronger TSP. It is virtually impossible for it to go any faster in regular service due to its not-so grade separated median ROW.

Amidst a wider context of budget overruns, construction carbon footprint, uncertain ridership demand, and opportunity costs, that could easily mean fixed or not fixed to two different people.

As has been pointed out recently, the real debate should be between more or less grade separation. The level of grade separation matters way more for speed and reliability. The rolling stock choice of tram/LRT or metro/subway has more to do with the operational economics of the line.

I believe this website page for Line 6 came out about ~3 weeks prior to its opening date... lines up well with Feb 8 for Line 5

Yes lines up pretty well for February 8... We just need the official City of Toronto and TTC announcement to confirm that. The city is going to go wild once that is announced.

The anticipation is killing me lol, just make the announcement already

If Line 5 opens with the trams having to wait behind any traffic/pedestrian signals or left turning vehicles we must burn down Metrolinx.
