How exactly does the TTC "leverage their union". The TTC union is not the TTC. Their literal job is to oppose each other.
The union's literal job is to represent their members. That doesn't rule out supporting the interest of their employer - where it makes sense for them to do so. For example:

No, but implying that the TTC is nefariously "leveraging" the support rather than both sides have the same interest in this case seems specifically biased.

Is this true?
I don't know about stripper parties, but Atkins Realis paid millions of dollars to Gaddafi - much it related to the apartment in Toronto.

There was the $half-million SNC-Lavalin and Ben Aissa spent on the party with rapper 50 Cent in 2009. Perhaps that involved strippers and prostitutes?

There's a reason that any engineer with a shred of morality would never work for Atkins. Why Trudeau was so keen to protect them I don't know.

While from an operations standpoint Finch West and the Crosstown are considered one division and so operators can sign work on either line, the differences between the two lines are substantial enough that the training course for operators is different between the two. The third set of classes was planned at one point to only be trained on Finch West, although I don't know if that is still the case. In any case, operators from the first two sets of classes will be allowed to go through a shorter course to allow them to become certified on Finch West at some point in the future.

This. The controls are substantially different in the cabs between the Citadis and the Flexity, operators transfering from the streetcar network or even the subways will have an easier time transitioning to Line 5 than Line 6 as the Flexities have a control scheme that is almost identical to the new streetcars (with the exception of the signalling interface), and this is before we even go into the difference in signalling systems between the two lines

Ask any SNC Lavalin alumuni from that era, they literally paid for Gaddafi's son to sleep with ___workers in the SNC office. Gaddafi's son was given a "job" at SNC in Montreal, for which he was paid a "salary".

Why do I see OIQ and PEO investigating people for not using their middle name (well OIQ) but I've never seen anything published in the (PEO) blue pages about such completely unprofessional behaviour at Sexalis Atkins?

Clean-up happening at O'Connor's station this morning. Not sure if something else, too. (sorry couldn't find specific stop thread):
its just to keep workers gainfully employed. theyre not opening anytime soon so really theres no real point in deep cleaning the windows so soon. they were doing this (rather inefficiently) at aga khan station since last week....

That must be why Metrolinx has built so many closely-spaced stations like Aga Khan, Hakimi Lebovic, Duncanwoods/Pearldale. More stations equals more deep cleaning windows while they wait for the line to open.

Just a thought; If the Crosstown is set to be handed over to the TTC soon, then they might just want the windows clean and protective film removed?

then again it looks more like the windows came with a frosted film layer and they are scraping them off to make it clear.... or its been sitting so long that its become frosted.

Opinion | Doug Ford says the Eglinton LRT may finally open this year. Be prepared for a letdown

Key points:

The Eglinton Crosstown was planned to be a subway line decades ago, like lines 1 and 2 today. It actually got built in its modern form as a “light rail” line, which will rely on much smaller, streetcar-style vehicles as opposed to subway trains. The trains will be narrower, shorter, and will also have some of the most annoying parts of the modern streetcars: limited doors and tight aisles.

All of this adds up to only about 40 per cent of the capacity of a traditional subway line. Oddly, the tunnels on the Eglinton line are larger than on the latest extension of the subway to York University, and the stations are palatial, with big entrance pavilions and multiple entrances and exits. One wonders whether that all money would have been better spent on bigger trains in the first place, with additional entrances integrated into new developments on an as-needed basis. You can always add a new set of stairs down to the platforms, but making the platforms longer and higher is much harder.

Some of these decisions might have made more sense 15 years ago when the project was starting. But they’ll surely feel short-sighted in today’s bigger, denser city, and even more so when more of the forests of towers planned along the line sprout. Expect a crowded ride.
