what frustrates many are the related infrastructure works that are complete and can open but are not just because its related to the ECT. take the intersection on eglinton just east of don mills. that has been complete for over a year and ready to switch on yet its being deliberately held off and now they even put barriers up to prevent drivers who dont want to get into the eglinton/don mills chaos from u turning out... theres no need to not open it... just pure buffoonery from toronto.

FWIW - someone in my network says May is a critical milestone. Other comments were, one station remains problemmatic. And the cost of removing all reference to the Science Center is getting silly (editorial digression - this is an example that proves the P3 "fixed price" model is unrealistic. Changing the name of a station post hoc, and hving to revise every bit of technical documentation as well as the physical wayfinding, is a "change order" in any construction contracting model. Ain't no way Crosslinx is swallowing that cost...ML will pay extra). Just grapevine level comments, but from a source I look to as an informed internal viewpoint..

I"m sure the media would love to know what that final renaming cost is.

Perhaps it might just be cheaper to fix the current Science Centre so as not to need renaming the station. :)

well if anything changes like this fall beyond the scope of the fixed price model... fixed price is used to protect against cost escalation of what is agreed in the contract. the renaming of the science center station is additional to it so its an extra work that can be claimed. however to hold back on opening dates because of the renaming exercise is criminal if true...

Can you help me understand in a project that is incredibly opaque and has inched along at a snails pace for months; someone has visibility into May- 5 months from now?

Could you also opine on what the troubled station is? Thanks

Do we have a new name for the Science Centre station? Perhaps Chris "Sankofa" Moise can come up with something ridiculous.

I thought we discussed it earlier. "Don Valley" I thought it was.

Which makes more sense, given that it wasn't even going to be the closest subway station to the Science Centre.

I'm not going to speculate. Take the value of the rumour based on what you paid for it. I don't pass along many rumours, so take that as my read on the relevance of this one.

What I took that was of interest was that the speaker said "May" and not "February" and not "July". There was no elaboration.

Similarly the comment made reference to "the one problem station" again without elaboration. The point of interest for impatient participants in this forum being, there is possibly still work needed (somewhere) beyond just finishing up paperwork.

Opaque, indeed. We are all just reading tea leaves, after all.

I would imagine though this would feed a lot of speculation on a certain station that's already rumored to be the problem on this forum

I'm trying to decide what's worse, perpetual moving timeframes a la Ottawa, or the total radio silence from Metrolinx.

I'd wager that if someone out there actually had the time of day, to go to each station and observe the workers going into any given station entrance to do work, we'd be able to deduce the problem station. I think most of us here have better things to do though, so it's all guesswork.

With Metrolinx we've already had the perpetual moving time frames and radio silence so we've had a does of both.
