you don't really need fare paid zones like you used to pre-PRESTO and if anything they are a risk for fare evasion. Makes sense Metrolinx / the TTC isn't building them anymore.
Care to explain the fare-paid bus terminals on the Scarborough subway extension, or at Steeles on the Yonge North extension?

Very few of the stops on the first part of the Eglinton line have fare-paid terminals, in large part because there was no land available in most locations. And in part because the projected ridership patterns aren't going to hugely change with the opening of the line. I suspect that we are seeing more of the same here - not a large change in projected ridership patterns, and in part as a means of cost savings/avoidance.

At Martin Grove and Eglinton, they need two left lanes from eastbound Eglinton to northbound Martin Grove.
That's the plan, and will be coordinated with construction of the line.

True, but you don't need to build anything as elaborate as the terminals at those stations. Would it really have been that costly to simply add a small bus loop and a second entrance behind the faregates directly into the head house at some key points, similar to some stations on line 2?

It requires more property acquisitions than you’d expect to account for bus turn radii, and entrances and exit points where buses can manage to turn in/out without much traffic resistance.

Looking on a map I see a couple sites that would have allowed for a bus loop eg. north east of Dufferin and Eglinton if the head house were built over there.

Some like Laird and Leaside could physically support it but they lack the demand from their connecting bus routes.

Based on all the designs we keep seeing, I can see how terrible it is to transfer from these stations to buses. Riders would need to cross roads while cars will have to fight high pedestrian traffic to make turns. Buses have no places to short turn.

TTC builds the entrances pretty close to the bus stop when they stop on street but ML chooses to make people walk quite a distance like Fairbanks to 29/929 northbound stop or Chaplin to the 14. However they have second entrances for most station unlike these west extension stations. We still haven't seen if they would relocate the bus bays closer to the entrances.

Precisely. If the buses need to turn left in or out of it, that intersection needs to be set far enough away from the other intersections in the area, especially if there are traffic lights.
