Send this tidbit directly to the Mayor's Office.

Bikeshare is about to get new boss, this is the moment to consider just this type of thing.

While I would love for the QR code scanning to be improved in the app, please never take away the physical cards. I love not being stranded if my phone runs out of battery.

I wish they would also have kept the old key fob key as an option. That was even more convenient. Honestly not sure why they got rid of it.

My key fob broke where it attached to a keyring. I eventually lost it. It was convenient, though

I wish they'd allow third party apps to generate unlock codes again! It was also a great way to get around people scraping off QR codes and barcodes from the bikes.

My guess is people were using third party apps to share membership or they didn't want to maintain the API. But now the buttons on those docks are useless.

Expansion appears to be ramping up again, finally.

A series of new docks installed in/around Humber River Regional Hospital:

One just to the east as well:

That brings us to 880 Docks.

Of course, docks without bikes don't so much............. which reminds me............how are we doing with that bike shortage up at York U?

Hmmm, core campus, 6 docks, 0 bikes..........

Lets be generous shall we.........lets look at the expanded area:

11 docks, 0 bikes.

Ok then.

I made it down first day!
At Harlan's dock there is a massive indoor shed with a ton of bikes and lots of staff. At Ward's island dock there was a bit of a corral, a canopy, and some staff. At Centre Island dock there was staff but I didn't see a corral, but possibly it had run empty.

There seems to be rebalance within the islands with a bike share truck. I caught it on the bridge.

Dropping the docks on the grass looks like a poor choice. That grass will be destroyed in no time and it will become a muddy mess.

Here's hoping that this drives more trial of bikeshare. People may use it for the for time on the island and then start using it day to day.

This was my first thought. There's a dock on Mutual (I think) that sits in a mud bank. I've had to help someone dock their bike there on more than one occasion.

In fairness to them, there isn't always a paved space available and they don't have any budget or in-house capability to do that.

I have encouraged them to just buy 1cm thick rubber matting that you can rollout in front of docks on grass..............but no uptake as yet.

They must have updated the app's QR code recognition. Since about mid-late last week, I barely have to point my camera at the code and the bike is unlocked. This is great!

Before I had to deliberately make sure the QR code image appeared in the box on my phone's camera for a second or two before the code was recognized.

I know someone posted about wanting this recently, but I couldn't find the post during my cursory search.

I noticed this too and also the thought the timing was impeccable given the recent post about it's poor performance. It's actually incredible how quickly it works now.

I will have to check this out! What fortuitous timing. 😁

Bike balancing really seems particularly poor recently. Far too many docks with zero working bikes or zero free docks. There was a complete absence of bikes in King/River area yesterday morning.
