Apologies if this has already been shared - I'm super excited about Bike Share docks coming to the Green P on Pacific Avenue/Dundas St W - across from Darren's No Frills in The Junction. This will fill a gap and help with all the No Frills shoppers who cycle to or from the store; their bike racks are insufficient for the number of people who do.

I saw them pop up in January when they installed the electric vehicle charging stations but I'm guessing they will be activated in the spring? Looks like 24 spots.

This one looks open now BTW and it's all e-Bikes!

I've been waiting to confirm this publicly, but Justin Hanna has now posted on his Linked In that he is departing Bikeshare Toronto. His last day is May 6th, 2025.

That would be tricky, because people take mainland bixis to the island to bike around, so they'd have to be close enough to check for that little sticker. Unless they give the bike a different paint job or something.

Saw this on Instagram today. I wonder how exactly they will enforce the bicycles staying on the island. Perhaps some penalty if a bicycle is undocked from the island but docked outside of it.
Just make the wheels automatically lock if taken outside an approved perimeter, like shopping carts at grocery stores!

They could also ban mainland bikes from going to the island while they're at it.

Let's talk bike share theft for a second. Passed this guy on new Cherry St earlier. Bike Share bike completely spray painted in silver. Possibly coming from the nearby respite centre.

This one has been here all week:
Locked to the condo bike rack. I exchanged a few emails emails with bike share customer support. Gave them the location and the bike number earlier this week. Bike is still there. They said they would relay to their operations team.

I’ve wondered how some of those bike share bikes become permanently loose. I wonder if it’s because some users don’t properly secure the bikes after their ride, and an opportunistic person checks for those. In that case, the last user is out the $1200 deposit.

Or if some people have figured out how to dislodge the bikes. I’ve seen a few e-bikes in the possession of sketchy types.

They aren't very strict with this in my experience. There's been a couple times where I thought I docked properly and realized an hour or so later that the time on the app was still counting. I then had my session closed without returning to the bike after calling support. Another time I was having trouble docking my bike at a dock and they told me to just leave it there while they close the session.

Wow. That’s not great for inventory management.
