I know there’s a tiny parkette at the southwest corner, but why are there no trees or landscaping along the front of the building? Will there be any public artwork for this site? With the name Artistry and being kitty corner from the AGO you would think there will be some sculpture or artistic element on the outside to carry the theme (but then again the building itself is anything but artistic 🙁).
It’s feels pretty bleak.

Given the sense of taste of said developer - less is more.

What a maladroit attempt at any kind of decent street level here, in such a central stretch of Dundas. I wish I could say I appreciate the way the planes of glass and spandrel are broken up, but it's articulation between using the same materials, the lack of setbacks, the overhang being too high and not setback enough to allow for street trees.

I'm sure they think the sexy curves are public artwork. As for the name, it's due to its proximity to the AGO and nothing more. Several buildings in that area have Art(s), Artists, etc., in their names, dating back to the '80s, and some are plainer (if less offensive) than this.

Perhaps the developers should commission Rachel Whiteread to do a cast of Brian Jungen's 'Couch Monster' elephant at the corner of the AGO.. place it upside down on a plinth in the Parkette..🐘 😄

Damn, I never seen the backside of the building until now!😳🤮
It reminds me of many suburban houses where the front of the house looks decent (brick/stone cladding, nice casement windows, window shutters, decorative moldings, etc), but go around the sides and back it’s stripped of any detail and design, and using cheaper materials. It’s all a facade, literally.
On this building I didn’t think it could get any worse (I think the horrible fake brick panels with the random ledges and beams look like an interpretation of it being slapped together with two-by-fours and plywood panels), but it looks like developer and architect ran out of effort and money to design the backside.

Isn't it a streetcar stop here?

I agree that streetscape leaves a lot to be desired but I am always in favour of wider sidewalks, especially at TTC stops, as this city has too many shallow and narrow sidewalks on major streets.
