I’m not mad at this. Yes the tower is quite bland for such a prominent location. But I actually appreciate the height cut to preserve the iconic view. But also very happy the historic front portion of the building will finally get a proper matching west side facade. Far better than the sterile beige wall there today and will give the courtyard much more charm!

I'm really surprised - why so short cited ... just put it on the back burner for 10 years and revisit - who knows what the market will be then.
...the problem being it's a rental, they don't have to wait till it gets better, at all. >.<

The new design is still painfully banal for the complex. Why is it so hard to not just copy-paste the simple facade design from the existing two towers?

It's good that they are trying to preserve the CN Tower sightline, as that's a postcard view, but the revised design does not achieve that. The reduction in height takes place outside the sightline. They need to go back to the drawing board and come up with a design that falls inside the envelope of BCE place in terms of CN Tower sight lines. It should also look like an extension of the current BCE complex. It could be taller, but it should meld into the existing BCE Place without intruding on the CN Tower sightline.

Not great, not terrible. The original would have been a travesty, but it's small enough now that it'll more or less just blend into the cityscape.
