Love Calgary, but would be odd for them to not go into Toronto/Vancouver/Montreal first. Unless it's a landmark property like the Lake Louise Fairmont or Banff Springs.I couldn't see Waldorf Astoria being interested in an office conversion. Could be wrong, but I think they'd want to custom design their own new building (and a fancy one at that).
It isn't about a central brand. If investors want to pay for the privilege and will meet brand standards, Hilton won't say no.Love Calgary, but would be odd for them to not go into Toronto/Vancouver/Montreal first. Unless it's a landmark property like the Lake Louise Fairmont or Banff Springs.
What's with all these French words that people are using like it's common knowledge but I've never heard of them. Instead of a "vacation home tax", the amount of articles on the NY "pied-à-terre" tax makes me question if I've been living under a rock.Today I learned what a "porte-cochere" is. Particularly interesting to me, as it reminds me of that time on vacation, when I forgot I had a couple of bikes mounted on the roof, and drove them right into the porte-cochere.
Agreed. With Waldorf missing from the online literature, it could end up being any hotel.Maybe a better name for this thread is "Selkirk House Hotel Conversion"?
And what a name that would be...it could end up being any hotel.

I still use "car hole" because of this.
Was it in Waterton? Cause I saw someone do that with bikes on a roof rack at the Waterton Lakes Lodge Resort.Today I learned what a "porte-cochere" is.
