The new Tremaine Road alignment is now open to traffic and the old Tremaine Road overpass has been demolished.

add it to the list of a million capacity problems on the network that Ford is constantly not putting any money towards fixing despite his ridiculous rhetoric. Not sure if this was spoken of before, but that 410 SB to 403 WB transition is absolutely horrible. The fact you go from 3 lanes to just 1 lane to actually get on the 403, on top of any traffic from 401 WB trying to exit at Eglinton or Cawthra, it's just all a mess and needs to be improved on.

I don't see any particular reason rest stops like On Route should not exist in urban centres. They are obviously more important in more rural areas, but if they attract enough business to sustain themselves in an urban area, what would we shut them down? Seems arbitrary if there is demand for it, and keeps unnecessary traffic off of local streets.
If the Hamilton parkways gets uploaded to Ontario, I would name that highway 408.Premier Doug Ford and Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath today discussed the possibility of uploading the Lincoln Alexander Parkway and Red Hill Valley Parkway to the province, similar to what Toronto did with the Gardiner Expressway and DVP
As soon as they do, time to add a lane. Was undersized from Day 1 thanks to the Provincial Govt of the time.If the Hamilton parkways gets uploaded to Ontario, I would name that highway 408.
I'd be quicker to designate the existing freeway sections of 8 in Kitchener as the 408.If the Hamilton parkways gets uploaded to Ontario, I would name that highway 408.
It makes sense. The Linc and RHVP have a very provincial role (even international!) as the fastest connection from Niagara to SW Ontario. It's a common cut-through for people driving from Michigan to the US east-coast as well.Premier Doug Ford and Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath today discussed the possibility of uploading the Lincoln Alexander Parkway and Red Hill Valley Parkway to the province, similar to what Toronto did with the Gardiner Expressway and DVP
I agree. It does make a lot of sense, and one of the reasons why is that a lot of people don't like the City running the highway. About once a year, the Linc closes down for annual maintenance, something I cannot imagine the MTO would do if the Linc was under provincial control. It makes sense.
