Is the Glenmore work supposed to be done by this year? I think the northern parts are almost finished, they're just changing finishing up some of the exits, like McKnight.
The Glenmore work really only solves the three to two lane squeeze on Deerfoot. Fixing Glenmore would require replacing the original bridge as well as providing ramps for all movements to avoid the silly routing through the auto center. I would argue that Glenmore is Calgary's most important road :
-one of few high capacity east-west routes
-central location at the north-south axis of the built up area
-connects all major roads in Calgary (Stoney E, Barlow, Deerfoot, Macleod, 14th, Crowchild, Stoney W)
-traverses the bottleneck created by Glenmore Reservoir/Glenmore Park /Weaselhead
-primary access to the enormous light industrial area in the SE which continues to grow rapidly
I know a full Glenmore rebuild would also require a collector-distributor layout due to Blackfoot's proximity. I'm surprised this isn't higher on the priority list.
Fixing the Calf Robe to 17th section will also be a major undertaking as it would consider the future 50th Ave interchange, reconnecting Barlow through the 17th interchange and possibly reducing the curves before and after the Calf Robe. Also need to consider the Green Line bridge over the Bow and how it will cross Deerfoot. Wonder if that crossing is close enough to be combined with a 50th Ave crossing.
