I recently tried the Lunch Lady on Ossington. I ordered the $36 bowl of "wagyu" pho. Some others at the table ordered different dishes and apps.

I would say that the bowl of pho itself has good quality ingredients and is pretty loaded already with everything (shown in the pic) without needing anymore add-ons.

Service was friendly and staff knowledgeable too. But I don't necessarily see myself coming back unless it's with people that really want to try it for the first time or whatever.

It's definitely a place that offers an "elevated" experience with its location and decor. Although, they certainly bump everything up due to its association to the Lunch Lady/Anthony Bourdain fame.

In terms of Vietnamese food for the sheer essence of the dishes, I still prefer OG places like Pho Linh on College Street. There's also Linh Anh in Scarborough. Along the Pho Ngoc Yen and Pho Anh Vu chains.

Certainly looks decent, but 36 bucks for a bowl of soup? 🤣
It's on Ossington. This is par for the course. If anyone still had reservations about the crowd that goes there i'd recommend they become aware of the Carhartt store on that street and promptly turn around. Wagyu pho is just bait for influencer wannabes like the michelin listing that Pho Tien Thanh has down the street. Maybe i'm just a hater

I've really come around on Pho Anh Vu. I'm typically hesitant of chains but this one is pretty good, even if they have an incredibly pedestrian, average pho. Their other items are pretty good, and service is quick as you'd expect from a Vietnamese spot.

That's just awful to hear. It's difficult enough starting up a new business nowadays. And they've already done extensive work in restoring the building prior to this latest tagging.

I would echo that. Just tried their Saturday crab special pho; in all fairness, it was indeed good. But $28 for comfort food, Pho Tien Thanh 2 mins away is a much better restaurant. At the $28 price range, I would also say I prefer Co Thahn (Lunch Lady's store in HK in Pacific Place) over the Toronto store, if I have to pay that type of luxury pricing.

Pho Ahn Vu is tasty, but I think they put way too much MSG in their broth.

I find that with Pho Ahn Vu it depends on which location it is. The broth at the Midland Scarborough location had quite a bit of MSG. Whereas the Dufferin Yorkdale area and recently opened Don Mills ones were much better.

Seems like they're expanding the seating area of Imanishi Japanese Kitchen to also include the 2nd floor of that building:

1330 DUNDAS ST W

To alter the two-storey mixed-use building by converting the second storey residential dwelling unit into an eating establishment (currently occupying the ground level of the existing building).

Would be pretty substantial to have 3 McDonalds within relative distance to each other, with existing ones already at Village by the Grange and the infamous one at Queen & Spadina. The former gets quite busy serving the OCAD and University Ave employment clusters, and the latter needing no introduction.
