I can finally report that Kettleman's Bagels near Yonge and Eglinton has closed - this was previously the Prohibition Bar which had similar troubles. The restaurant was never really that busy AFAIK, and it definitely died down right after it opened - I think anyway.
Is this the space that also used to be Boston Pizza a while back? Or was that further down or up the street?

I'm not sure, I actually never knew there was a BP in this area! That being said, for a number of years I didnt live in the area so perhaps it was in that time, before 2018.

If Kettlemans can't survive there to serve Midtowners around Yonge & Eg then I'm convinced that location is truly cursed

"Flippers Toronto, known for its famous Japanese soufflé pancakes, is a popular spot in Toronto, with their first Canadian location situated downtown at 31 Elm Street. Toronto Life has covered their food scene and other aspects of Toronto life. "

Art's opinion: might take a raincheck! Souffle pancake can be made at home simply at home but not usually the person I would go outside and buy dessert unless something is truly good!

Taverne Tamblyn, a local bistro on Danforth and Monarch Park (w of Coxwell) announced on their Instagram feed last week that they will cease dinner service as of March 29. They blame thin margins, and hope to continue as a catering/prepped meals business, with the occasional bistro night. It's too bad. I enjoyed their food and have been several times. I hope they survive.

Yes, this used to be Boston Pizza

Oh, and word from the (Reddit) Grapevine is that a big burger chain is taking over the space, which is odd considering the competition in that area.
Take that rumour for what it is. 🪙
Word is that Shake Shack is opening in the former Kettleman's spot.

Signs are up for Golden Horseshoe Barbecue which is opening in the former Starbucks/Popeyes space at Dupont & Christie. Curious to see what they will do with the facade which has been completely decimated by graffiti and neglect.

When the 25-year-lease renewal came up for Harbour 60, the Nikolaou family didn’t just re-sign—they saw a chance to usher in a new era of the long-running steakhouse. “We doubled down, rebuilt and made it spectacular,” says director of operations Jeremy Geyer. Additional floors of the historic Toronto Harbour Commission building, the restaurant’s home since 1999, were also up for grabs, so they expanded to a second floor and introduced two new concepts: Arianna, an elegant Italian restaurant, and Estelle, a high-end event space.

The result? A glossier, even grander version of one of Toronto’s most famous steakhouses—with a refreshed menu, a next-level wine program and even more big-night-out energy.

Art's Opinion: another fancy looking spot most likely the food is meh! People go for the vibe or try to find a rich potential partners!!!!
