Does anyone under 40 still watch late night tv?

In real time? The audience has declined considerably. But a lot of it does get view on Youtube or other social media the next day or within a week.

The shows are definitely less profitable than they were a few years ago, but most still make money.

Personally, I think John Oliver will actually be deported back to Britain.
Oliver has US citizenship. The deportation (and thus revocation of citizenship) of someone of that level of prominence could cause an international incident and go a long way to destabilizing Hollywood more than this administration already has. Not that I wouldn't put it past them, but they've yet to have that level of brazenness.

Even then, they could just likely strong-arm Discovery CEO David Zaslav into dropping Oliver's show lest they investigate Warner Brothers for tax fraud (some of the stuff Warner has done has been suspect, to say the least).

Remember when Republicans were against cancel culture? Now they are the ones pushing it. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Actually there is a significant difference - by using the apparatus of the state (e.g. FTC) to compel networks to do so under implicit threat. I don't think cancel culture ever went that far.

It meant something these days?

I joked with my father this morning about how Jimmy Carr may yet be banned from entering the US. He is known for his offensive jokes.
