Jimmy Dore had a good segment with George Galloway on this appalling abduction. I can't believe what is happening under Trumps America. Not long-ago Americans considered the 1st Amendment their most treasured basic human right. It's been said that the 2nd. Amendment was there to protect the 1st Amendment but suddenly overnight this most treasured right of Americans has been stripped away, and it has been done at the behest of one country. Israel. Since 10/7 the Israel influence lobby has been trying to silence any criticism or reporting on what Israel is doing to the Gazans (50,000 recorded dead with an estimate of at least 200,000 dead so far mostly women and children).
This influence operation has been very effective. Even before Trump entered office the lobby pressured congress to ban TikTok - the most popular free speech platform for Americans because TikTok was transmitting images of the endless carnage in Gaza.
I don't understand why all Americans are not in revolt against what is happening. They will be targeted next. Just because they cannot be deported there are other ways this powerful foreign influence operation can destroy their lives through de-banking and making them unemployable. We have already seen this with American University students being blacklisted from employment opportunities.
The modus operandi of these foreign influence groups works like this. They conflate any criticism of Israel with "antisemitism". They then conflate antisemitism with "support for Hamas" which they then conflate as "support for terrorism". They then say if you support a terrorist group then you are a terrorist and you need to be dealt with appropriately and Trump's Homeland Security and DOJ have been happy to oblige.
And they are working in Canada also! Yves Engler, a Montreal-based activist and author, was recently arrested following accusations of harassment by Dahlia Kurtz, a pro-Israeli influencer. Engler has been a vocal critic of Israel and Canada's foreign policy for years. The charges stem from his responses to Kurtz's social media posts, which he described as "racist, violent, anti-Palestinian." Engler denies any direct contact with Kurtz and claims the accusations are an attack on free expression. Engler would spend a weekend in jail before making bail. Let that sink in. That actually happened in Canada! He is still awaiting trial and could face imprisonment for the crime of criticizing on X the one country you are not allowed to criticize.

It feels like many Americans are behind this, while the rest are too terrified to do anything about it... /bleh
There are civil rights groups filing lawsuits, and the courts have ruled against a number of actions (on multiple fronts). Unfortunately, those rulings are often being ignored and the judges are being maligned. It’s a sh*t show on so many levels.
The protests next week are going to be interesting.

White House officials have also been suggesting that some judges be replaced because of their rulings.
It's all fun and games until Trump invokes the insurrection act to quell any protests. I hope it doesn't come to that but if it did, that would likely mean Civil War or Impeachment.
He has been impeached twice. How did that go?

Yes but using the US Military against US citizens attempting to exercise their 1st amendment rights would be tantamount to treason. There is a difference between a small time felony and using the US Military to quell a legal protest of your views.
The optics of quashing a legally permissible protest because it does not align with your ideology are bad.
The optics of all that he is doing are bad, yet it continues. Far too many people embrace this, and far too many more roll over and take it.
