Watching the fireworks from Cliffcrest

DJI_0090-HDR.jpeg

Spotted a rabbit munching on the tulips in the decorative gardens outside the TD Centre on King Street this afternoon.

It seemed healthy, but I have to wonder how the hell it got there. Maybe a pet dump? It did not seem particularly afraid of people approaching it up close. It would only run into the shrubs if you got really close to it, but it would come back out about two minutes later.

Yes, I suspect it's an abandoned pet. It is very rare to see a rabbit in a busy area, let alone the busiest area of the city. I used to see them when I lived off the Don Valley for a time, but since living in denser and busier neighbourhoods, never see them.

I've seen them in the Corktown Common playground in September, so much construction means they hide until they feel no one is around. The TD rabbit will have an interesting existence.

While I was snapping some photos for UT, I switched to video mode and did one 'spin around' and then landed. Posted that video on Reedit yesterday and it's just about to hit half a million views!

Crazy.

I prefer photos to videos and I much prefer UT to Reddit, but still wild to see.
It's a big event. You can see it, taste it, breathe poorer because of it. And it points to the impact of climate change; this should be a late summer event, not late spring.

I went on a little walk yesterday, which became a re-hash of earlier walks, but this time I could use my new camera and take images I took nearly a decade ago. It was a good way to gauge past experiences with photo walks, and to re-capture angles I thought of before, but in a new way.

Anyways, this is my local subway stop/skyline, from the CNIB complex by Sunnybrook.
