Getting shared all over the place, Carney was seen skating with the Oilers today at their morning practice. Making the case for running in an Edmonton riding?

Hopefully, he plays hockey without always "winning", unlike Donald Trump who always "wins" playing golf.

...or like Vladimir Putin always "wins" playing hockey.

With one day left to the expected election call, the Liberals have announced the final expansion of their dental care program to working age adults.

Canadians 18-64, who have filed their 2024 tax returns and lack employer sponsored insurance, will be eligible for some level of coverage*, beginning as early as June 1st, with most coverage being in place by July.

* Coverage is 100% for those making less than $70,000 per year, 60% for those making $70,000-79,999, and 40% for those making $80,000-89,999

Prime Minister Mark Carney will run in the Ottawa riding of Nepean, right next to the Leader of the Opposition's riding in Carleton. Looks like people of Ottawa will be making quite a bit of choices about party leaders!
What is the official reason that Chandra Arya is losing his candidacy? Obviously the guy is a moron but since when was that a rule in any party

How much more would it really cost to not make it means tested?

IF, you retained existing private insurance schemes, so that 'universal' simply means open-ended fill-the-gap.........somewhere in the range of 2B more per annum.

A report from a few years ago said 1.45B per year, so I'm throwing in inflation and population growth with generous rounding.

****

If you wanted to eliminate private insurance in favour of a public scheme?

The current scheme is estimated at 4.5B per year at full, rollout, using my guestimate above.........6.5B with no copays or deductibles.........

Estimates have about 2/3 of Canadians with private dental insurance........so I'm guessing here........I imagine triple, for a total of 19.5B per year.

And we're off to the races! Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced outside Rideau Hall he has spoken to the Governor General, Mary Simon, to request that Parliament be dissolved for an election to be held on April 28th.

Guessing the bi-election for Halifax, NS on April 14, 2025 is cancelled. But I'm not in charge of elections.

...that's a Monday before May for all us calendar-challenged.
