I cancelled a lost card with senior fare type, and transferred the balance to another card with adult fare type. Then the fare type of the second card turned from adult to senior! What should I do?

I'd give the senior card to a senior, save it until your a senior. Or just pop into a Shoppers Drugmart or other outlet to get them to change it to an adult.

That should be the easiest change to ask for!

Well that too ... but if you aren't close to looking it, it's going to raise questions at the very first fare inspection!

That reminds me. I've always been confused about whether the Youth fare is for those 18 and under. Or under 18.

As my eldest just turned 18, I assume that it would take care of itself. And I recently realized she was still a Youth. But when I checked the expiry date - for some reason it's set to when she about 19 and a half! So clearly wrong. But will it be just wrong when she turns 19. Or is it wrong now, and I (she) needs to do something. Though the fare inspection wouldn't be tough, given she could pass for 17.
 
After a few years of collecting ive managed to get up to 33 different PRESTO card types. This year alone over 10 special designs were released:

I guess this is because of FIFA, but I hope these could be utilized for VIA Trains, UP Express, sporting event tickets, etc.

I have noticed these QR code readers are being installed on fare gates across the system (particularly subway stations with high ridership); they were installed at Museum Station over the past week.

Mobile Presto readers, such as those on buses and streetcars, already have built-in QR code scanners, so it would make sense that they might be harmonizing the system.

When the TTC introduced Presto tickets with built-in NFC chips, one issue raised was that the chips would require used tickets to be thrown into the garbage, as opposed to being recycled. Some of the comments on the linked Reddit thread suggest they might be transitioning to QR codes for single-use tickets, or doing so for the FIFA World Cup.

This would be the goal, to allow reading of transfers given to cash-fare riders on buses. The hiccup is that the fancy fareboxes that auto-count cash and could have a built-in printer are north of $15k per bus as I understand it. Ideally, having a printer that could be pushed by an operator or linked to the deposit of cash would be best.
 
These QR code readers are great when visiting a city. I can just buy a day pass on an app and it'll generate a QR code for me. Makes things so much easier (though daily fare capping with a credit card would be even better).

In LA, you can buy a Metrolink day pass and it'll generate a QR code that you can use for free transfers to LA metro and other transit systems in the area.
