Surprised to see this being neglected so soon. It probably would make better sense to axe the turf for some grasses and other plants like in other areas of the leg grounds.

I think they are going to have a warranty issue there, to deal with. In your first photo you can see water in the sidewalk to the east of the splash park. It is draining into the area that the sod is dying. It’s literally drowning it, so something needs to be done,

Chlorine doing chlorine things.

Would it kill ETS or the Leg to plant the planters at the kind cool but sad ETS station next to our provincial capital grounds?

Instead of demolishing the old RAM, the province needs to get rid of this monstrous abortion of a building. As far as I'm concerned, this is the biggest obstacle between the river valley and the Legislature grounds. The offices and workers can always relocate to the empty office buildings.

Wholeheartedly agree. Won’t happen though. The offices are huge and it just had an interior renovation. Bureaucrats will not give up their space without a fight.

I see so much land with the potential to be transformed into river valley park space along with recreational activities such as a fitness facility, swimming, a skating rink, a pickleball court, basketball hoops, a skateboard park, a rental facility and a restaurant/cafe/pub/live music venue.

Instead, I see it squandered.

Lol I promise you bureaucrats wouldn't fight that. My boss used to work there and she said there's this room that used to be a library of sorts, but it was always closed and nobody told her why. One day she got curious enough to snoop inside, and there was a big hole in the floor that went at least a few floors down!

Besides, the government is trying hard to condense office space and consolidate operations to minimize lease costs as much as possible. They're currently renovating the Infrastructure building's first and second floors to fit the entire transportation ministry; this is after they did the same to the third floor to fit the entire infrastructure ministry. They're doing something similar at the Forestry Building to consolidate the Indigenous affairs ministry. In government's eyes, lease savings > people getting territorial over their cubicles.

I'd lead the bulldozer parade to get rid of the most anti-social precinct near the core. But then, it'll never happen because bureaucrats largely want to keep more than armslength away from the teaming masses.

Frankly, I'm disgusted about that area above most any that I could think of in Edmonton. Think about how the south side of the leg grounds would emerge and be enjoyed by so many more.
