Yeah, it's pretty (very) disappointing. No waterfalls, the rocks used are like an eighth of the size as what's shown in the renderings, and the water isn't even deep enough to get the tops of your feet wet. The best it will look is now and through the summer. The long, barren concrete wasteland from the legislature to 99 Ave. will be awful and uninviting from Oct. thru April.

ok. update on my earlier prediction; if this truly is the final product, then h#*$^ f*@# the good news I suppose is that no one is gonna get hurt.

Went today with our kids. It’s definitely better in person as a user vs the pics.

It’s a bit grey and boring. But a few things I liked:

- lots of seating. This is an upgrade. Hundreds could comfortably sit all over.

- fountains are diverse and fun. Different heights, types, power levels. Some better for little kids, other for bigger.

- safe. This is mixed, cause the old design wasn’t super safe, but it was awesome. And I don’t think risk is bad for kids, arguably most need more these days. But the concrete is smooth, there’s few spots where a big accident could happen, certainly no drowning risks. As a parent, there’s pros/cons to this.

- design looks intentional for rally’s, speeches, and other “Democratic type activities “. In many ways, that’s what this space should also accommodate. Which is my guess on why they did more hard surfaces and seating and less grass/water/greenery in the middle.

Good news is that this area is always packed. This design isn’t stellar, but it’ll be popular and well used.

Good recap. I dropped by today, too. I'd say the rocks are a bit bigger in person than they look in the pics - although bigger would have been nice.
