The developers must fix the holes in Edmonton's urban fabric first before expanding outwards again.
Being cliche doesn't make it wrongGood-on-ya you've managed to pick up on all of the catch phrases of the New Urbanism (now tired and old)... let's try for some original thought.

Oh my god! I am so scared^ Keep it up you are nearing the precipice.
Skyrise Edmonton, come for the building renders, stay for the 5 PM local telenovela. When I die, my last words will be that I wish I spent more time arguing about neighborhood features in a development forum.

Analysis: Why those organizing to curb infill say size, pace, and engagement are top concerns
Those organizing to stop, slow, or change infill told Taproot they want new housing in mature neighbourhoods to be smaller, the pace of developments to calm, and for neighbours to have more say in what gets built in their communities.edmonton.taproot.news

BILD will always advocate for its members, who have a core business model of greenfield development. It should just be labelled a lobbyist group; that is literally all it is. It is crazy to me that the person who wrote the City plan now regularly advocates against it.You’re right. Let’s be more original, walking is sooo 3000BC.
You’re suggesting we shouldn’t care about walkability, sustainability, transit efficiency, 15min communities?
I’m simply saying all our city plans, guiding documents, and goals are anchored by those concepts. Not “density”, but metrics related to transportation, green initiatives, and access to amenities. And yet BILD is arguing for more city building strategies that literally more is farther from the city goals, not closer to them.
You say this as if it's a nasty secret that land developers want to develop land.BILD will always advocate for its members, who have a core business model of greenfield development. There are better organizations in Edmonton that represent industry and still try to align with City goals like IDEA, etc.
They represent more than just land developers and also claim to act in the interest and align with the City of Edmonton. They are also regularly quoted as experts with reports that support their narrative, even though they leave out substantial data. It would be better for the public if news organizations disclosed BILD's interests. For the general public, it is kind of a nasty secret since most people are likely ignorant of what BILD actually is.You say this as if it's a nasty secret that land developers want to develop land.
