Lots of rumours flying around who might run where for the next election. Getting interesting!
There is only one seat I am interested in and that is where Mark Carrey runs. The safest seat would have been Edmonton Centre ... but I don't think Randy intends to step aside. Had Mark Carney not won the Liberal leadership I don't think Randy would be elected in Edmonton Centre and his support for Chrystia Freeland had she won would not have saved him. If the Liberals do form the government under Carney I doubt Randy will be in the cabinet ... too many soiled diapers for the party to rinse, soak, deodourize and wash.

This might be the right choice. I was worried about anti-incumbency headwinds in the mayoral race, and maybe the anti-Sohi sentiment wouldn't be so strong if he's pursuing a different office at a different level of government. (Could he recapture his old riding in Mill Woods?)

It is a bit confusing that Radio-Canada is apparently reporting this before any English-language media—and with a note at the bottom to the effect that Sohi doesn't speak French.

And it would be in new riding of Edmonton Southeast.
According to post on Reddit, polls show liberals leading in this riding and Liberals have no candidate yet.

We already have CETA (Canada Europe Trade Agreement), so we should probably stick with that and try make the most of it, rather than join the EU
Wouldn't you know it.

Prime Minister Carney to strengthen ties with France and the United Kingdom and reaffirm Canada’s sovereignty

In Paris, Prime Minister Carney will meet with the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. With the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement as the foundation, the leaders will focus on their shared commitment to build stronger economic, commercial, and defence ties. Prime Minister Carney will also emphasize Canada’s work to unleash the innovative and economic potential of artificial intelligence (AI) safely and responsibly.

If Carney wants to gain some Western support, run in Edmonton and not remove any nominated candidates, would it not make sense to run in Edmonton West? It is the riding where he grew up in Edmonton and the current polls show 44% CPC, 41% LPC with momentum to the latter. Not to mention the expected bump with the party leader running in the riding.

I heard through a highly reputable source that Carney is 100% set to run in Edmonton. I can only speculate on which riding, but I would be surprised if he didn't choose Edmonton Centre.

It's like Nenshi running for Strathcona. Losing the leader's riding is a huge embarassment, so safe ridings are more important than "ambitious" choices.

There have been murmurs of ex prov NDP candidates and members of the leg running for the federal Libs.

Notley, of course, was mentioned but I just cant see it.
