Canadian liberals are going to have a nasty wake up when he turns the party VERY neo-liberal to help his rich friends.

Mark Carney has strong Edmonton roots, probably stronger than Chrystia Freeman's roots.
For starters, he apparently cheers for the Oilers and the Elks.

Not apparently, he's big Oilers fan and even noted it in his acceptance speech today.

And typo on Chrystia's name - it's Freeland.

Carney's only safe seat, if he were to run in Edmonton, is Edmonton-Centre. And it's currently a swing between Liberal and Conservative. He will run in Ontario.

Good chance he's running in Edmonton. That acceptance speech had way too many subtle hints to Edmonton, especially mentioning his dad who ran in the 80's.

While the chances of running in Edmonton are good, I think he'll run in the Ottawa region, where he currently lives. After all, the seats in southern Ontario may be safer, whereas the Edmonton seats are likely going to either the NDP or the Conservatives. The lone Liberal in the Edmonton area, Randy Boissonnault, is likely going to lose to Trisha Estabrooks.

It would be nice to see Carney run here and I feel that is a possibility. It is true somewhere in Ontario would be a safer seat, but with a good candidate and improved polling numbers Edmonton Centre is winnable.

Actually, the Liberals have won it many times in the past, so it is far too soon for the NDP or the Conservatives to declare victory in this riding.

The way people are turning away from the NDP in federal polls, I wonder if Edmonton Strathcona would be an option, too.

He has lived in Ottawa since 2020 so that is where my money is. Edmonton would be risky, but bold.

He wouldn't be able to spend much time campaigning here and it will take some work to win a YEG seat.
