I assume you're suggesting they run the Metro Line to the southern terminus of the Capital Line? They don't want to run trains more frequently than 5 minutes through University Ave. So until they do something about that, not likely.
Having said that, when the Metro Line ends up with 5 minute frequencies, having just a single track to turn back at HSS won't do. That is probably at least 10 years out.
Originally I was suggesting an expansion similar to this—an extension going North to St Albert with an extension going southwest to Windemere. With the entire line expanding to two lanes.

Only thing I'd change is having it split off after South Campus but yeah it's a no brainer.

Having a new southern branch would be a good way to turn trains without having to use that existing pocket (which is not great because its off to the side as opposed to in the middle!)

I would absolutely die for a southern expansion like that on the Metro line! Ever since I was a kid I had dreams of a train running through the median of Terwillegar Drive! I don't know if that median would be the best route to run the train, but I still fantasize about it when I'm driving along Terwillegar Drive.

I would love to see a replacement train station directly parallel to Blatchford Gate.
That would be a great idea, access to to the LRT and from what I've seen 121st will no longer be active once the Yellowhead is finished... maybe even tie in a new bus depot too using those westwood city lands.

The VIA rail station needs to be linked to the CN rail line, so based on that this idea doesn't really work. I think a more practical solution would be to have a shuttle bus connecting the VIA rail station with Blatchford Gate instead (once the road network within Blatchford is more complete). This shuttle only has to run a few times a week for arrival and departures, and could maybe be a "dial a bus" shuttle that's based out of the Westwood ETS garage nearby

Westwood does not exist anymore the Kathleen Andrews took its place and Nait knocked it down. But I see your point and it would work.

Westwood no longer exists. It was replaced by Andrews.
Regardless, The volume of passengers arriving and departing certainly doesn't justify attempting any sort of ETS service except for maybe On Demand. Of course, the trains don't always run on time. A train a friend caught 1 month ago was due to arrive around 18:50, it was over 3 hours late and arrived after 22:00. On Demand ends at 22:00 on weekdays, earlier in weekends.
Edit: went and checked and both VIA 1 and 2 come through today. #1 WB is about 1.5 hours late, and #2 is close to 6 hours late. Both could arrive after 22:00, and #2 probably won't arrive until after most transit routes have finished for the day.
