I suspect the Q400s will remain in similar roles to what they have been operating now with YTZ (Billy Bishop) as the focus.

Edmonton to Ottawa while not a huge market between the two still seems underserved with no WestJet flights and Air Canada only seasonal. Flair does Ottawa but could be room for Porter on that one and in Ottawa you would have a couple onward connection possibilities and feed the other way.

Nice to see Edmonton specifically mentioned. Given that India now accounts for the largest share of immigration, I think it's just a matter of when, not if, nonstop YEG-India starts.

The expanded agreement specifically opens up Edmonton, Montreal, so not just through Vancouver. Vancouver already has daily India service.

Consider - if YEG plays this right... this could be big. YEG needs to lock down India service before the two additional cities are chosen by India. This gives YEG a head start to build a route, and grow it through the power of incumbency. If successful, this will capture enough of the Alberta-India market to make service from any other Alberta city nonviable. I have no idea when India gets to choose their two additional cities, but YEG should get on this before that happens.

About 16% but I do wonder if local traffic is back pretty close to pre pandemic and some of that difference is explained in less Air Canada and Westjet connections happening at YEG.

Would have to compare difference between those same periods at other airports.

I think you're right. Considering Air Canada is not doing any regional flying and WS is not really driving any connections, domestic origin and destination demand must be quite strong at the moment. Interesting to see that both Edmonton and Vancouver are at about 85-86% of 2019 levels (https://biv.com/article/2022/11/yvr-passenger-volume-stays-86-cent-pre-pandemic-level), and YEG is achieving this despite a reduction in connecting traffic.

Did you actually see a plane at the gate? I do not see it listed as an arrival or departure for YEG on the airport website nor on FlightStats or on Flightradar24. Given Sun Country have just announced 15 new routes (https://www.kare11.com/article/news...outes/89-a3dfb11b-4b29-4d12-a79b-80764c3846d8) at Minneapolis (MSP) its only HUB it may be that Sun Country may be looking to draw in some connecting flights to its HUB at MSP and YEG may be a contender for a future route..
