That is why you need a layover in KEFVery close. 3500 miles from here to there and range is 3900. Then you have to count on etops for the crossing and I’m not sure what the rules are for that. Doable, but tight.

Resume programming as normalLooks like the new Euro routes being announced tomorrow will be operated out of YYZ and YHZ. YEG may see more YHZ service but not expecting a great deal of excitement for our fair airport which has already lost some US options for Summer 26.
Yeah got it now. The first post had a slash between Kef and Gla and I misinterpreted that to be both, not as a stopover. Got it now. That is why you need a layover in KEF
My interpretation of the (former) map on Westjet's website was that it would be KEF and GLA, not YEG-KEF-GLA. Apologies for the miscommunication with the slash.Yeah got it now. The first post had a slash between Kef and Gla and I misinterpreted that to be both, not as a stopover. Got it now.
Well, both YWG and YEG looking to get the shaft by WS, with only non-domestic service cuts coming our way. The only enhancements we are likely to get is additional feeder flights to cities with European service. An updated route map on Westjet's website yesterday displayed 8 new destinations, 2 of which were from Edmonton - Glasgow and Reykjavik.
They have since been removed from the map, but hopefully this is a tease of what is to come and not a glitch. YEG-KEF is long overdue to return and YEG-GLA is a great addition.
The other routes were YYZ-MDE/PDL/CWL, YWG-KEF/GLA, and YHZ-MAD/LIS/CPH for those curious.
Yep, not completely shafted.....Well YEG is getting KEF. Congrats.
1 X Weekly for the Summer....Preferred the 757 on FI, but beggars can't be choosers.
