Literal decades. Got curious and got these snapshots from the archive. We're slowly undoing the parking lot damage, one step at a time. How long has this lot sat empty til today?
Well there hasn't been buildings on these lots for decades. As I recall there were more buildings there in the 1990's, but those were torn down and became parking lots, in addition to the other lots which were parking lots already in the 1980's or perhaps even earlier. Hence the sea of parking lots.Doesn't seem to be a lot of pictures if any at all of the buildings around the Warehouse park eh?
What did they look like? Similar to stuff you find north of Grant Mac?Well there hasn't been buildings on these lots for decades. I recall there was an old three storey in the parking lot west of BP, similar to some other old buildings on Jasper Ave, but perhaps more run down. Then there was the big garage space for the car dealership (Healy), this was just one storey and fairly plain, directly north of BP where the park is now and covered about 2 parking lots. Those are the only ones I rememberWhat did they look like? Similar to stuff you find north of Grant Mac?
Kinda fun to see how fast this one got going. As much as we like to poke fun at Westrich's midrises, they really do deliver and fast too when it comes to these.
We know we're in a good spot in downtown whenever they actually decide to break ground on a new high rise and/or get a midrise going in Chinatown South lol
And I'm optimistic that might be faster than some people on here might predict.
