I know wrong thread but Richie Lam (owner of Westrich) was talking about a more upscale project they’re working on which sounded like the ice district land westrich owns. Probably just in early planning stages but maybe Ian can give us anything more juicy ;-)

Walked through Warehouse Park this weekend for the first time.

Don't mean to be negative - it's always easy to nit pick after the fact - but I really wish they expropriated the parking lot beside Boston Pizza to bring it all the way down to Jasper Ave.

You can have moved the fire pits there and had a super engaging/inviting gathering spot that was visible to so much of the surrounding there...and then you could have extended the open park space further west enough that there was the length required for a small soccer field or something where kids could play a game.

Still will be great once all these buildings are done and that place is really hopping.

I’m not sure there’d be a way to make that expropriation occur and I’m pretty sure I’m not comfortable with the government doing something like that as much as I detest those lots.

Why? That’s how they got the rest of the land

My guess is it was economic. Want the tax lift from development on that site.

Thanks for correcting/reminding me…..

Still not sure I love the city over using the power, but I concede the point it could’ve been done for those lots.

I'm just happy there's parking lots being deleted with all these projects.

That BP's lot has a bullseye on it now but as many have said on here, the owner is in California and doesn't want to sell from all indications.
So we must make them pave and beautify it or else we charge the eff out of them. I believe this parking lot to be one of the “illegal” ones.

I rode by this last week and was surprised anything was being developed. I was hoping for towers too, but I'd rather this than 20 more years of surface parking lot across the street from a beautiful park. Same with what looks like a substantial downsizing of The Shift. It'll build momentum towards the bigger picture -- Parks 2, the eventual redevelopment of Boston Pizza, etc.
We don’t need towers. We need empty lots filled with people. Towers can come in time, on some other empty lot.
