Bout time. This is very positive news.
I saw some complaints of GoA folks saying they would boycott DT business that supported RTO. Not sure how noticeable the impact could be among staff members that already weren't going Downtown.Someone on Reddit is saying the GoA employees are being told no more hybrid work.
No timelines given but that's what they were told.
A lot of Stagnated salaries. Heard a few say they have not had raises in 10 years.GoA salaries are not competitive with the private sector.
Maybe not, but our unemployment rates are unlikely to make that a problem.GoA salaries are not competitive with the private sector.
I'll still take a good government job even if it pays a bit less than the equivalent in the private sector.GoA salaries are not competitive with the private sector.
Yes, they often have much better pension, benefits, vacation, sick leave and more job security. So those all can count for a lot for many people.I'll still take a good government job even if it pays a bit less than the equivalent in the private sector.
Tell me about it. I just started a part-time PhD and work from campus on Mondays :/Bout time.
I could get (essentially) my same job with the GoA at comparable or greater pay, with less work, while becoming near-impossible to fire due to the union. I am extremely skeptical that it'll be hard to get competitive candidates for any roles this frees up.Yes, they often have much better pension, benefits, vacation, sick leave and more job security. At least in my ministry, one of our biggest issues is experienced staff in certain positions going to the private sector.A lot of Stagnated salaries. Heard a few say they have not had raises in 10 years.
The impact would be that businesses don't get the boost they were hoping for. You know what they about voting with your wallet and all that jazz. Not sure how noticeable the impact could be among staff members that already weren't going Downtown.
I'll be applying, for once. Probably take a bit of a pay cut, but I'll gladly take it, and move back to Edmonton, if I can land a GoA jobI could get (essentially) my same job with the GoA at comparable or greater pay, with less work, while becoming near-impossible to fire due to the union. A welcome addition, no doubt. I'd buy a home sooner rather than later, I hear those vultures from Kelowna are eyeing our real estate.I'll be applying, for once. Probably take a bit of a pay cut, but I'll gladly take it, and move back to Edmonton, if I can land a GoA job
Blah blah blah blah blahI saw some complaints of GoA folks saying they would boycott DT business that supported RTO. Not sure how noticeable the impact could be among staff members that already weren't going Downtown.
If you want a GoA job, I bet some well-paying vacancies are coming up.
Seriously though. Do you really think the UCP give a rats arse about Edmonton’s downtown? It is probably based on what they think is best business practices. And how long do you think the boycott will last presuming you can find out who supported RTO.I saw some complaints of GoA folks saying they would boycott DT business that supported RTO.
