Welcome to Downtown Edmonton!

Doesn't the city have rules about parking lots? Haven't they had rules for a long time? Have those rules ever been enforced?

Sometimes I feel half the rules the city and spends months and tons of work agonizing over making is a waste of time because they either don't have the ability or the desire to enforce them.

Sometimes, it's too cold for salt to work in Edmonton. Sometimes.

Plus, after having lived in Ottawa, where they salt from the first snow to final melt and where your footwear is ruined after one season, sand is far preferable to salt, even it it does make the snow brown.

Japan and some Scandinavian countries have implemented geothermal heating systems for roads and other infrastructure.
In Japan, geothermal snow-melting systems for pavements, railways, and roofs, as well as frost prevention systems, have been used for decades.

Working from home since COVID. They were summoned back last year but the workers made an uproar about baby sitting, not enough notice etc. But now it's 3 days/week at the office and 2 at home starting next week. Is it everyone at once? Probably not, sounds like it might be a slow move back

My sense is a lot of the private sector workers downtown have already been back for a while either full time or hybrid, so the addition of more government sector workers also coming back will be an added boost.

I don't get it, why aren't they all back to work in the office like everyone else? Staying at home and working in your pyjamas should not be a thing anymore.
Surprisingly, it seems like the city workers are the last ones being pressured to be back in the office. Their buildings are mostly empty. Curious if they will ever be forced back

If government workers get to work from home long after covid then they should level the playing field for all workers. How about creating a 3 day work week instead of what we have now with same pay for everyone? Three days off each week would be nice!
