Yes, it’s a fermented food offering at the takeout food counter. It’s definitely an acquired taste.

In other news, building permits are now posted at 88 Queen (North) on Shuter for the No Frills.

Saw a truck parked in front of No Frills today and my five year old asked why it said "No Name". I started to try to explain to him not only the concept of brands, but then also why "No Name" was a joke about the whole thing, and it was just too much for 8 in the morning.

No worse than Hung Wang on Warden just north of St Clair.

As far as I can tell there is only one hung wang!

My wife is Russian. There used to be a grocery store in North Toronto called Long Hui. You can imagine what Hui is slang for in Russian.

Some quick snaps of the T&T Edward store from today. Quite busy overall, lots of post secondary student types doing their shopping. I found the layout to be similar to an Ikea store format where you have to keep moving in different directions to see the next section, but I do prefer this store more than the College one

Huh, I had no idea @AlbertC was stalking me today............ LOL

No, I am not in his pics, but I could have been.

So, tangentially.........that store is insanely busy........the crowding is just off the charts.........and it's showing up at the til.

Loblaws must be kicking themselves for not finding a larger space, if they had 25% more space that'd be making 35% more dollars because of the additional types of product they could be offering.

Their selection in many categories is quite limited compared to their larger stores. Particularly so quick-serve, home-meal replacement and bakery, but noticeable in other spaces as well.

The store layout is awful. I want to have at the design team for some very ill-considered choices.

It reads like an Ikea........you have to go through the entire store, every section to get to the end, and the exit.

I think the layout is the only way they could make that space work, with the elevator core smack dab in the middle. I found it okay given the constraints.

With all the students living and studying in the area, it’s definitely going to make bank.

A challenge for sure. I'd have to go back at look at the layouts of the space, but my instinct is that I could do better. LOL But absolutely that's an annoying obstacle.

The above issue is also illustrative of why, if you want large format retail in the base of your building, you should involve their design people at the beginning of the exercise.

There are different ways to situate an elevator core.

Couldn't help but notice how much less busy the College/Spadina T&T was this past Saturday afternoon when I went. Assuming it has something to do with the new one on Edward. Hua Sheng was still the same, though!

I forgot if this has already been mentioned previously but PJ's No Frills will taking the retail space at 899 College Street (The Carvalo), and opening on March 20th

It really feels like there is No Frills popping up everywhere in downtown!

In the last couple years there is the new one at Richmond & John, King & Shaw, Liberty Village, on The Esplanade and now this one.

Is there any I am missing or any more coming?

There's also one planned for 77 Shuter Street, which I was unaware of until searching it up
