Biking along Harbord St. earlier this week

Question for y'all. Why do some of the islands/buffers have planters while others are full concrete? Most full concrete islands don't appear to be part of loading/bus stops/pedestrian crossings/etc. but maybe there is a engineering/technical reason for some (sightlines? utilities?). I like the green buffers a lot, would like to see more!

Montreal and other cities create "raingardens" where the rain runoff flow into the groundwater slowly.

hahahah couldn't they have just taken a photo of the street itself? Is it really that hard?

more seriously: I continue to believe that the province is likely to win their appeal of their bike lane legislation and be permitted to rip these out themselves. As much as I generally dislike the province's meddling, the lower court's decision on the matter is rather ridiculous in my view and is unlikely to stand on appeal (assuming the province can actually mount a reasonable defense).

so is Eglinton connect dead before it even started,

No.

the fact they didn't do it while they were rebuilding for the crosstown means they never wanted to do it to begin with in my pov

No, it means the province complicated matters; and one west end councilor fussed and and its an election year, and there's a FIFA construction moratorium.

Though, for the record, they should 've got it done earlier. But its coming.....slowly.
