Balzac’s at the UP Express terminal by Union Station. Pleasant with an interesting view, but certainly not cozy.

You know what they say: a cafe a day keeps the doctor away! Jimmy’s cafes are by default cozy - they’ve totally nailed the formula, with salvaged vintage furniture, comfy seating, lots of warm wood accents, exposed brick walls, non-harsh lighting, books, and shiny metallic ceiling tiles. That said, I think this outpost on Ossington at Queen is their finest, and one of the coziest cafes in the city. It even has a fireplace (though sadly not in use).

Anyone been to La Gloria Mexican coffee? Whenever I walk by it seems crowded and cliquey, as if I'd be entering a private gathering.

Plus, I'm not sure about Mexico coffee. Is that like Cuban coffee? I've had strong coffee in Israel that smashed through my jet lag, but nowadays I lean towards Americano volume (but with taste) over strength.

No, I haven't been there - my go-to in Cabbagetown is Epos, although next time I'm in the 'hood I might try this one. Does it look cozy?

Acceptably verdant, @Northern Light ? ;)

No, doesn't appeal to my antisocial vibe. I am looking forward to the SE corner development of Parliament and Gerrard to finish, as those thousand residents will bring even more money and foot traffic to the intersection, and more biz to Epos to keep them viable. I don't suppose they own the building, so you need to pour a lot of coffee to pay the rent, supplies, utilities, insurance, wages, and pocket some profit.
