Compromise to get things done. Nice to see for a change. Would never have happened with Trudeau government$130/tonne by 2040... interesting. Much lower than the $170/tonne by 2030.
Will probably see Guilbeault resign soon after
Classic Canadian Prime Minister objectives:With the price of oil ballooning, the revenue provided from royalties will be a lifeline for a lot of the country I bet, so I think this makes sense.
Consumers tend to prefer to own their own refinery to retain strategic optionality. Plus it is a great business to be in if all you have is location and rule of law to your advantage (hello Singapore). Because of that, the refinery capacity market tends to be oversupplied.Surprised there’s no talk of a new refinery or two in Canada. Or maybe there is and I just haven’t heard it. Either way, good news about the pipeline though.
It is this, you don't refine here, you extract. If anywhere in Canada refines, it is out east in Ontario/Quebec probably Ontario that opens you up to being to sell to the NE USA.way easier to do somewhat near to the end consumers
Edmonton already getting the refueling base for 4 MRTTs. Probably talking about that, and possibly other transport assets.Feds looking into basing a full squadron in Edmonton and increasing representation from prairie provinces on the Port of Vancouver board
